Lori Davey GCI Vice President of Business Sales

As an Alaska-born-and-raised company partnering with customers in our state for more than 40 years, nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of our employees and customers.

Given growing concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to share with you a high-level summary of steps GCI has taken to be prepared. As a provider of critical infrastructure, we understand connectivity is crucial for your business. We are acting in an abundance of caution and preparedness to keep our workforce safe and to make sure that the critical service we provide you goes uninterrupted.

We are taking extra precautions at GCI, which include:

  • GCI has a dedicated COVID-19 response team that includes company leadership representing all critical functions. This team supports the organization around the ongoing assessment of, and response to, business risks.
  • We are committed to following the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health agencies to help prevent the spread of illness in Alaska.
  • We have placed additional emphasis on the importance of hand washing and the consistent use of hand sanitizer.
  • Employees are staying home when sick and after travelling to high-risk areas. Any employee who is sick at work is sent home.
  • GCI has a work from home program in place to prevent the spread of the virus and to ensure continued, uninterrupted operations.
  • GCI is equipped to respond to customer needs and manage our network remotely.

These are important steps to help keep our employees and customers healthy. To help you with your planning related to COVID-19, we want you to know that we are here for you and able to assist with changing technology needs that may arise. These could include:

  • Providing information to improve the experience of your remote workforce.
  • Evaluating your network to ensure it will sustain a significant percentage of your employees working from home and using a VPN to access critical files.
  • Assessing your bandwidth and usage to identify if you are prepared to support increased use of teleconferencing or video teleconferencing.

Please reach out to your account manager with any questions you have related to technology preparedness for this critical situation. You can also reach out directly to our business leadership team at gcibleadership@gci.com and they will connect you to the right team member.

We appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you. It is our goal to keep you and your teams connected.

Sincerely,
Lori Davey
GCI VP of Business Sales
